The story of a dog learning to dock dive

In the photo below Glory shows good dog dock diving form.

Then we've got Bullet.

Now I love my dog very, very much, but there are times he's not very bright. See his back end sticking straight up in the air? He tried to walk on water and ended up going head first. I'm sad to say this wasn't the first time he demonstrated this particular dive, sputtering and thrashing his way back to the surface after he had fallen in.

Good thing for us Bullet has heart. He doesn't give up. Some dogs would have stood back and watched Glory get the ball, but not my Bully. When at first you don't succeed, try, try again!

And try he did, legs flailing wildly. There was no way he was letting his sister have all the fun.

We're very happy to report that by the end of the week he was an old pro, jumping fast, straight and strong. Too bad we had to leave the cottage with the dock just outside, what fun it was!

Take that Glory!

This is one of my favorite posts. This is totally the epitome of the male giant schnauzer. The females always seem brighter. But every woman giant schnauzer owner I know say they prefer the male. I think it's that goofy quality that makes us smile and laugh out loud.

I am thinking about adding a GS to my family and stumbled onto your blog while researching. I love it! What a good mum, keeping your dogs' minds and bodies active!

I haven't laughed that hard in a long time!

We couldn't get our dog to jump off a dock at all. She runs to the end, whines in frustration and then runs the back down the dock until she can jump out on land and then splash through the water.
